2025 Grand Marshall

Dave Channel

The Jackson Apple Festival is proud to honor Dave Channell as the 2025 Grand Marshal. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Ohio, Dave has devoted more than five decades to serving the community with passion, pride, and unwavering dedication.

A 1973 graduate of Jackson High School, Dave began his service that same year with the Jackson Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks from firefighter to Assistant Chief, and ultimately to Chief. Over the course of 52 years, Dave earned his Firefighter II certification, became a Hazmat Technician and a Confined Space Rescue Technician. His service extended beyond fire response—he also served 15 years with Jackson EMS, responding to countless calls and emergencies with courage and compassion.

Dave’s work ethic is evident in all he does. For 37 years, he was part of J&T Coin-Op, and in 2015, became the owner and operator—a role he proudly maintains today. He also ran a wood furniture business for 2 years and has spent over 26 years cleaning local churches, showing his dedication to both faith and service.

His contributions to the Jackson Apple Festival span more than 50 years, including assisting with the annual build and teardown, and supervising the street washing throughout the years.

Civic engagement has always been a part of Dave’s life. He served 20 years with the Jackson Jaycees, is a proud and active member of JAFE since its inception, and has been involved with numerous local fundraisers, disaster responses, and community initiatives. He played a leading role in reviving and sustaining Pig Iron Days for 22 years, and has been instrumental in coordinating fireworks displays for the city.

Dave was born on January 1, 1955, and is married to Kimberly Reese Channell. He is a proud stepfather to four and grandfather to five.

A man of few words but strong values, Dave sums up his life of service with this heartfelt quote:
“My biggest thing in life has been a member of the fire department—saving lives and property—as I love my life in Jackson.”

We salute you, Dave Channell—your lifetime of service is an inspiration to us all.
